Anhuilong

Anhuilong was a long-necked sauropod dinosaur that lived in what is now China during the Middle Jurassic. It is known from just a few arm bones, but scientists think it was a plant-eater that walked on four legs.3 2

Anhuilong is known only from a left humerus, ulna, and radius, the bones of its upper arm and forearm.1 2

Its name means 'Anhui dragon' after the Chinese province where it was found.1

Anhuilong lived during the Middle Jurassic, about 174 to 162 million years ago.3

It belongs to a group of sauropods called Mamenchisauridae, which were common in Asia during the Jurassic.2

Scientists think Anhuilong was a close relative of another mamenchisaurid called Huangshanlong, which was also found in eastern China.2

The arm bones of Anhuilong were slender compared to those of its relative Huangshanlong.2
