Elemgasem was a meat-eating dinosaur that lived in what is now Patagonia, Argentina, about 90 million years ago. It was a medium-sized predator with strong legs and a bony skull, and it belonged to the abelisaurid family, which were top hunters in the southern continents.12

Elemgasem was named and described in 2022 by a team of paleontologists led by Mattia A. Baiano. The fossils were found in the Portezuelo Formation in Patagonia, Argentina.12
