Цікавыя факты

Jianchangosaurus had wide, unbranched feathers on its neck that may have been used for display, like a peacock's tail.3 2

It is one of the most complete therizinosaur skeletons ever found, missing only the tip of its tail.3

Its teeth were set in a shelf-like jaw, similar to some plant-eating dinosaurs like ornithopods and ceratopsians.3

Jianchangosaurus was about 2 meters (6.6 feet) long and stood 1 meter (3.3 feet) tall at the hips.2

It lived during the Early Cretaceous period, between about 125 and 119 million years ago.1

The fossil was found in the Yixian Formation in China, a famous site for feathered dinosaurs.3 1

Jianchangosaurus

?When did Jianchangosaurus live?

It lived about 126 million years ago, during the Early Cretaceous Period.2

?Where was Jianchangosaurus found?

Its fossil was found in Jianchang County, Liaoning Province, China, in the Yixian Formation.2

?Was Jianchangosaurus a dinosaur?

Yes, it was a theropod dinosaur, specifically a therizinosaur.2 4

Разбуральнік міфаў

Міф: Jianchangosaurus was a meat-eater because it is a theropod.

Праўда: Although it belongs to the theropod group, Jianchangosaurus had a beak and teeth suited for eating plants, and scientists now think it was a herbivore.2 1
