Fun facts
Pradhania was only about 4 meters (13 feet) long, making it a small sauropodomorph.1
Its fossils were found in the Upper Dharmaram Formation of India, which dates to the Early Jurassic.1
Scientists originally thought Pradhania was a basal sauropodomorph, but later studies placed it in the family Massospondylidae.1
The only known specimen of Pradhania is a partial skeleton, including parts of the skull and limbs.4
Pradhania lived between 201 and 193 million years ago, during the Hettangian and Sinemurian ages.2
The name Pradhania honors Dhuiya Pradhan, who collected fossils for the Indian Statistical Institute.1
