עובדות כיפיות
Dongbeititan is the first named sauropod dinosaur from the Yixian Formation, part of the famous Jehol Group.12
Its bones were found in a valley between Libalang and Er Valleys, about 5 km northwest of the Sihetun Fossil Museum.1
The species name dongi honors Chinese paleontologist Dong Zhiming for his work on Chinese dinosaurs.1
Dongbeititan had a camellate internal structure in its presacral vertebrae, meaning the bones were filled with tiny air spaces like a sponge.2
Scientists found a tooth of the predatory dinosaur Sinocalliopteryx embedded in one of Dongbeititan's ribs, showing it was scavenged or attacked.1
