דברים מגניבים

עובדות כיפיות

Gasosaurus was named by Chinese paleontologists Dong and Tang in 1985.3 1

Its name comes from the Gas field in Sichuan, China, where its fossils were found, not from any gas it produced.1

The only known fossil of Gasosaurus is a partial skeleton with teeth, found at the Dashanpu Dinosaur Quarry.3

Gasosaurus lived during the Middle Jurassic, a time when many large dinosaurs were just beginning to evolve.3 1

It was a ground-dwelling dinosaur that moved actively on two legs.3

שאלת

השאלות הנפוצות ביותר על Gasosaurus

?How big was Gasosaurus?

Gasosaurus measured between 3.5 and 4 metres (11 to 13 feet) in length and weighed around 150 kilograms (330 pounds), though some estimates go up to 400 kilograms (880 pounds).2 1

?What did Gasosaurus eat?

Gasosaurus was a carnivore, meaning it ate meat. It probably hunted other animals for food.2 1

?Why is it called Gasosaurus?

Its name comes from the English word 'gasoline' because its fossils were found during the construction of a gas facility in Sichuan, China. It does not mean it produced gas.2 1

?When did Gasosaurus live?

Gasosaurus lived during the Middle Jurassic Period, about 171.6 to 161.2 million years ago.2 1

?Where was Gasosaurus found?

Its fossils were found at the Dashanpu Dinosaur Quarry in Sichuan Province, China.2 3

?Was Gasosaurus bigger than T. rex?

No, Gasosaurus was much smaller. It was only about 3.5 to 4 metres long, while T. rex was over 12 metres long.2 1
