Intiornis was the smallest enantiornithine bird known from South America, about the size of a sparrow.1 2

Its three primary toes were nearly the same length, which is unusual and helps scientists identify it.1

Intiornis had adaptations for perching, meaning it could grip branches with its feet.2

The fossil is a partial hind limb, including a right foot and part of the tibiotarsus.2

Its closest relative was Soroavisaurus, another bird from Argentina.1 2

Intiornis lived during the Campanian age, about 83.6 to 72.2 million years ago.3
