עובדות כיפיות
Jiangjunosaurus had large holes in the sides of its neck vertebrae that scientists think were for veins, not air sacs like in some other dinosaurs.1
Its teeth were wide and symmetrical, with seven tiny bumps (denticles) on each edge, perfect for shredding plants.1
The only known fossil is a subadult, meaning this dinosaur was not fully grown when it died.1
Jiangjunosaurus may have been hunted by the large meat-eating dinosaur Sinraptor, which lived in the same area.1
Its neck plates were probably arranged in two rows, like other stegosaurs, and were thicker at the base than at the top.1
Jiangjunosaurus lived about 160 million years ago, during the Late Jurassic period.1
השאלות הנפוצות ביותר על Jiangjunosaurus
?How big was Jiangjunosaurus?
It was a medium sized stegosaur, reaching about 6 to 7 metres in length and weighing around 2.5 metric tons.1
?What did Jiangjunosaurus eat?
It was a herbivore, eating plants. It had a beak-like chin for snipping leaves and wide, symmetrical teeth with seven tiny bumps on each edge for shredding plants.1
?Did Jiangjunosaurus have feathers?
No, there is no evidence that Jiangjunosaurus had feathers. It was a stegosaur, a type of plated dinosaur, and its fossils show only bony plates and scales.1
?When did Jiangjunosaurus live?
Jiangjunosaurus lived about 160 million years ago, during the Late Jurassic period (Oxfordian age).1

- עדיין שנוי במחלוקת
- Scientists are still debating exactly where Jiangjunosaurus fits on the stegosaur family tree, with some studies placing it as a primitive stegosaurid and others grouping it with Chinese stegosaurines like Wuerhosaurus.1
