Pulanesaura lived alongside other plant-eating dinosaurs like Aardonyx and Arcusaurus, but they ate different plants so they didn't compete for food.1

Its name means 'rain-maker lizard' because the scientists who dug it up worked in very rainy weather.1

Pulanesaura had teeth with grooves on both sides and wrinkly enamel that you could see with your naked eye.2

This dinosaur was a basal sauropod, meaning it was an early relative of the huge long-necked sauropods like Brachiosaurus.1 2

Its neck was flexible and helped it feed without wasting energy, a trick that later sauropods used to become enormous.1

The fossils were found in a quarry on a farm called Spion Kop in South Africa.2
