Sasayamagnomus was a tiny, plant-eating dinosaur with a beak, like a mini horned dinosaur. It lived in what is now Japan during the Early Cretaceous, about 112 million years ago. This little dinosaur was only as long as a cat!14

Sasayamagnomus was named in 2024, making it one of the newest dinosaurs discovered.1
The name Sasayamagnomus means 'gnome from Sasayama' because the fossils were found in the Sasayama Basin in Japan.1

- Sasayamagnomus was discovered at the Miyada microvertebrate site in Japan and formally named by Tanaka, Chiba, Ikeda and Ryan in 2024. The species name saegusai honors Dr. Haruo Saegusa, a leader in dinosaur excavation in the Tamba area.1
