Sinotyrannus lived about 122 to 120 million years ago, during the Early Cretaceous period.1
It was one of the biggest early tyrannosaurs, reaching up to 10 metres (33 feet) long and weighing about 2.5 metric tons (2.8 short tons).1

- Sinotyrannus was named in 2009 by Ji and colleagues based on a partial skeleton found in the Jiufotang Formation of Liaoning, China. The type specimen is called KZV-001.12
