Զվարճալի փաստեր
Camptodontornis belongs to a group of ancient birds called enantiornithines, which were the most common birds in the Cretaceous.1
Its name was changed from Camptodontus to Camptodontornis because the original name was already used for a beetle.1
The skeleton of Camptodontornis was found in the Jiufotang Formation, a rock layer famous for many other bird and dinosaur fossils.41
Camptodontornis lived during the Aptian age, about 121 to 113 million years ago.4
This bird is part of the family Longipterygidae, which includes other long-beaked birds like Longipteryx and Rapaxavis.4
Ամենահաճախ տրվող հարցերը Camptodontornis կենդանու մասին
?What did Camptodontornis eat?
Camptodontornis probably ate meat, like a mini hunter, based on its long, toothy beak. A close relative, Longipteryx, was frugivorous (ate seeds), but Camptodontornis itself is thought to have been a meat-eater.31
?How big was Camptodontornis?
Camptodontornis was a tiny bird. Its close relative Longipteryx had a wingspan of about 46.3 cm and weighed about 193 g, so Camptodontornis was likely similar in size.3
?Is Camptodontornis a dinosaur?
Yes, Camptodontornis is a bird, and birds are a type of dinosaur called avialan dinosaurs. So it is a dinosaur, just like modern birds.3
