Huallasaurus
Huallasaurus was a duck-billed dinosaur that lived in what is now Patagonia, Argentina. It had a long, flat snout like a duck and walked on two or four legs. This plant-eater was one of the most complete hadrosaurs ever found in South America.21

Զվարճալի փաստեր
Huallasaurus was first thought to be a species of Kritosaurus, but scientists later gave it its own name in 2022.1
Its name comes from the Mapudungun word 'hualla' meaning duck, because of its duck-like beak.1
Huallasaurus lived about 72 to 66 million years ago, near the end of the Age of Dinosaurs.6
This dinosaur is known from both adult and subadult fossils, including skull and body bones.2
Huallasaurus belonged to a group of South American duck-billed dinosaurs called Austrokritosauria.1
It shared its home with the long-necked sauropod Aeolosaurus rionegrinus.1
Ամենահաճախ տրվող հարցերը Huallasaurus կենդանու մասին
?How big was Huallasaurus?
It may have reached 8 to 9 metres (about 26 to 30 feet) in total body length.4
?What did Huallasaurus eat?
It was a plant-eater, like all duck-billed dinosaurs.1
?Did Huallasaurus have feathers?
No, Huallasaurus was an ornithischian dinosaur and there is no evidence it had feathers. Its bones show no air sacs, which is different from feathered dinosaurs.5
?When did Huallasaurus live?
It lived during the Late Cretaceous, about 72 to 66 million years ago.1
