Invictarx is known from only three partial skeletons, including bony plates called osteoderms that covered its back.1 2

Its armour had a smooth surface with many tiny pits, unlike the rough, grooved armour of some other nodosaurs.2

Some of its shoulder and back plates had a low, rounded ridge with a deep groove running along the top.2

Invictarx probably had a fused shield of polygonal (many-sided) bones over its hips, like a built-in suit of armour.2

It lived alongside other dinosaurs in a coastal plain environment, about 78.5 million years ago.1 2

The first Invictarx fossil was found in May 2011 by Daniel Williamson, and two more skeletons were discovered later.1
