Gojirasaurus was one of the largest meat-eating dinosaurs of the Triassic Period, reaching about 5.5 to 6 metres long.1

The name Gojirasaurus comes from 'Gojira', the Japanese name for Godzilla, because it was so big for its time.1

The fossil bones show that Gojirasaurus was not fully grown, so it might have been even bigger as an adult.1

Откритие: Gojirasaurus was named by Kenneth Carpenter in 1997, based on a partial skeleton found in Quay County, New Mexico. The bones were first mentioned in the 1980s, and a scientist tried to name it 'Revueltoraptor' in 1994, but that name was never officially used.1
