Huabeisaurus was about 20 metres (66 feet) long and 5 metres (16 feet) tall at the hips.1 3

Its teeth were peg-like and the tooth crown was three times longer than the root.1 3

The skeleton was found in the 1990s in the Huiquanpu Formation of Shanxi, China.1

Huabeisaurus had five vertebrae fused together in its hip area, forming a strong plate.2

It lived alongside the ankylosaur Tianzhenosaurus and other dinosaurs.1

The specimen was almost fully grown, but not completely mature, because some bones had not yet fused.1
