Fakte argëtuese
Gojirasaurus was one of the largest meat-eating dinosaurs of the Triassic Period, reaching about 5.5 to 6 metres long.1
The name Gojirasaurus comes from 'Gojira', the Japanese name for Godzilla, because it was so big for its time.1
The fossil bones show that Gojirasaurus was not fully grown, so it might have been even bigger as an adult.1
Gojirasaurus lived about 212 million years ago, in a time when many other strange reptiles lived in the same area.1
Its leg bone was thicker and stronger than that of its relative Coelophysis, which helped scientists tell them apart.1
The first fossils of Gojirasaurus were found near Revuelto Creek in New Mexico, and they include parts of the shoulder, hip, leg, and ribs.1
