It was named in 2005 by paleontologist Oliver Rauhut.1

Condorraptor was a relative of another dinosaur from the same area called Piatnitzkysaurus.1

The type specimen was a juvenile that was about 4.5 meters long and weighed about 200 kilograms.1

Its fossils were found in rocks that are about 179 to 178 million years old.1

Condorraptor had a shallow depression on the side of its shin bone near the top, which is a unique feature.1
