Ilokelesia was a meat-eating dinosaur that lived in what is now Argentina about 106 million years ago. It was a medium-sized predator that walked on two legs and had special bones in its skull and spine that made it different from other meat-eaters.1

Ilokelesia was named and described by Rodolfo Coria and Leonardo Salgado in 1998, based on fragmentary fossils found in 1991 in the Huincul Formation of Argentina.1

Scientists are not sure exactly how big Ilokelesia was, because only a few bones have been found. Different estimates give lengths from 4 to 5.8 meters.1
