Murusraptor belongs to a group called Megaraptoridae, which are known for their long snouts and very air-filled bones.1
The only known skeleton of Murusraptor was found in the wall of a canyon, which is why its name means 'wall thief'.1
Even though the holotype was not fully grown, it was already about 6.5 meters (21 feet) long, making it larger than some other megaraptorids.1
Murusraptor had a large opening in its lower jaw called a mandibular fenestra, which helped make its skull lighter.1
The tail vertebrae of Murusraptor had knob-like bumps on their sides, a feature that helps scientists identify it.1
