Sasayamagnomus was named in 2024, making it one of the newest dinosaurs discovered.1

The name Sasayamagnomus means 'gnome from Sasayama' because the fossils were found in the Sasayama Basin in Japan.1

Scientists found bones from at least two individuals mixed together, including two right nasal bones.1

This dinosaur is a neoceratopsian, a group of early horned dinosaurs that did not have big horns yet.1

Sasayamagnomus lived alongside other dinosaurs like the long-necked Tambatitanis and the troodontid Hypnovenator.1

The holotype specimen is only about 80 centimetres (2.6 feet) long, but it was not fully grown.1

ርኽበት: Sasayamagnomus was discovered at the Miyada microvertebrate site in Japan and formally named by Tanaka, Chiba, Ikeda and Ryan in 2024. The species name saegusai honors Dr. Haruo Saegusa, a leader in dinosaur excavation in the Tamba area.1
