Vectipelta is the first new armoured dinosaur found on the Isle of Wight in 142 years.12

Vectipelta was named in 2023 by Stuart Pond and colleagues. The fossils were found in 1993 and 1994 on the Isle of Wight, England, and were first thought to be from a different dinosaur, Polacanthus.16
