Blasisaurus is known from only a partial skull and some lower jaw bones found at the Blasi 1 site.1
Its name comes from the Blasi 1 site where it was found, and the species name honors paleontologist José Ignacio Canudo.1
Blasisaurus lived about 66 million years ago, right at the end of the age of dinosaurs.1
It was a lambeosaurine hadrosaur, meaning it was a duck-billed dinosaur that may have had a hollow crest on its head.1
Blasisaurus is closely related to another Spanish dinosaur called Arenysaurus, and together they form a group called Arenysaurini.1
