Terms of Use
Last updated 5 October 2026.
The short version, for grown-ups. Dino Wiki is free for everyone, with no ads and no accounts. Kids should use it with a grown-up's OK. We try hard to get every fact right, but we are dino fans, not a science journal, so tell us when we slip. Ask Rex is a computer program and can be wrong. A tip is a thank-you gift and buys nothing. Estonian law applies, and you keep every consumer right your own country gives you.
1. Who we are
Dino Wiki (the website dinowiki.app and the Dino Wiki app) is made by 4V3D OÜ, a small company in Estonia: registry code 17515961, VAT number EE102990461, Asula tn 5-26, 11312 Tallinn, Estonia, tel. +372 54440211. Email: [email protected].
2. Who it is for
Dino Wiki is written for kids and the grown-ups who read with them. There is nothing to sign up for and no account. Kids should use it with the permission of a parent or another responsible adult, and that adult decides whether the child may use Ask Rex (section 4). These terms are accepted by the adult, for themselves and for the child in their care.
3. What Dino Wiki is, and what it is not
Dino Wiki explains dinosaurs, flying reptiles and sea reptiles in simple words, with pictures, facts, quizzes and comparisons. Its facts come from published science and from The Paleobiology Database, and each page lists its sources.
It is for fun and general learning. It is not a curriculum, a textbook or a scientific reference, and it does not replace one. Science changes: new fossils are found, names change and sizes get re-estimated. Sizes, weights, speeds and the "compared with you" boxes are estimates and playful comparisons, not measurements. Some pictures are artwork or computer-made, and are labelled that way.
If you find a mistake, write to [email protected] and we will fix it.
4. Ask Rex
Ask Rex is a chat helper on the dino pages. Rex is an AI, a computer program, not a person. It answers questions about dinosaurs using a large language model, and it can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Check anything important with a grown-up, a book or a museum.
- Rex only answers questions about the page it is on, and gives a safe answer to anything else.
- Do not type your name, address, school, phone number or anything else about yourself into the chat.
- There is a monthly limit on questions, so the service stays free for everyone.
- Rex cannot help with personal problems. A child who is worried or upset should talk to a grown-up they trust.
- A grown-up may tell their child not to use Ask Rex, and we may switch it off or change it at any time.
How Ask Rex handles data is in the Privacy Policy, section 4.
5. Tips
The "Feed Rex" button lets a grown-up send a voluntary tip to say thank you.
- A tip is a gift. It buys nothing: no features, no ad removal (there are no ads), no priority and no personal service. Dino Wiki stays free and works the same whether or not you tip.
- 4V3D OÜ is a for-profit company, not a charity. A tip is not a charitable donation and is not tax deductible.
- You choose the amount. The minimum is 3 euros, only because card fees make smaller payments cost more than they are worth.
- Stripe takes the payment and emails you a receipt. That receipt confirms the payment. It is not a tax invoice or a donation receipt.
- Tips are only for adults. A child should never use a card without asking.
- If you tipped by mistake, twice, or a child used a card, write to [email protected] within 14 days and we will refund it in full.
6. Using Dino Wiki fairly
You may read, share links to and print Dino Wiki pages for personal, home, classroom and kindergarten use. Please do not copy large parts of the site to publish them as your own, scrape it automatically, try to break or overload it, or use Ask Rex to produce harmful content.
The text, design, pictures and mascot belong to 4V3D OÜ, except the parts that come from other people under their own licences. Fossil data from The Paleobiology Database is used under its CC BY 4.0 licence. Links to other websites are there for sources and further reading; we do not control those sites.
7. Availability
We keep Dino Wiki running and fix problems we hear about, but we cannot promise that it will always be available or free of errors. It is built for current versions of the major browsers and mobile systems.
8. Responsibility
We are responsible for what the law makes us responsible for. Dino Wiki is free, so beyond that we are not responsible for indirect loss, and for other loss our responsibility is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before, which for a tip is the amount of the tip.
None of these limits applies to death or personal injury we cause, to anything we do on purpose or with gross negligence, or to any right the law does not let us limit.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the law changes, when we add or change a feature, or for security or technical reasons. The date at the top shows the current version. If a change matters to you, we say so on the site before it takes effect.
10. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Estonia. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in your own country's courts. Please write to us first; we usually fix things fast. Consumers can also go to an out-of-court body: in Estonia that is the Consumer Disputes Committee (Tarbijavaidluste komisjon) at ttja.ee.
