Fun facts
Klobiodon is known from a fossil jaw that is 140 mm long. Scientists think the whole jaw was about 180 mm long.1
Its name comes from Greek words meaning 'cage tooth', because its big front teeth formed a cage-like trap for fish.1
Klobiodon lived during the Middle Jurassic, about 168 to 165 million years ago.2
This pterosaur was a rhamphorhynchid, a group that often had long tails and large wingspans.1
Klobiodon had two types of teeth: long, curved fangs at the front and shorter, stouter teeth further back.1
The largest front tooth of Klobiodon was at least 1.5 times as tall as the deepest part of its jaw bone.1
