Phuwiangvenator
Phuwiangvenator was a meat-eating dinosaur that lived in what is now Thailand during the Early Cretaceous. It was a fast hunter with big claws on its hands and feet. Scientists think it was about 6 metres long, as long as a big car.12

Phuwiangvenator belongs to a group of theropods called Megaraptora, which had long snouts and big claws.1
The first fossil of Phuwiangvenator was found in 1993 by a team led by Preecha Sainongkham, who worked at the Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum.2
Its name honors Sudham Yaemniyom, the geologist who found the first dinosaur bone in Thailand in 1976.1
The fossils were discovered in the Sao Khua Formation, which is made of red clay and sandstone from an ancient floodplain.12

- Phuwiangvenator was named in 2019 by Adun Samathi, Phornphen Chanthasit, and P. Martin Sander. The fossils were found in 1993 by Preecha Sainongkham at Phu Wiang Mountain in Thailand.12
