Hollanda was a speedy, turkey-sized bird that lived in the Gobi Desert during the Late Cretaceous. It had long legs and ran fast like a modern roadrunner, chasing insects and small animals.1

Hollanda is known only from its hind leg bones, so scientists have to guess what the rest of its body looked like.1
Its foot had a special toe arrangement called anisodactyl, with the first toe turned sideways, which helped it run and perch.1
Hollanda lived about 83 to 72 million years ago, during the Campanian age of the Late Cretaceous.4
