Datos curiosos
Fujianvenator lived about 148 to 150 million years ago, during the Late Jurassic period.1
Its lower leg (tibia) was twice as long as its thigh bone (femur), a very unusual feature.1
Scientists think Fujianvenator could run very fast or wade in water like modern wading birds.1
The fossil was found in black mudstone and shale, which suggests it lived in a swampy environment.1
Fujianvenator was a subadult when it died, meaning it was not fully grown.1
It is one of the youngest Jurassic avialans (bird-like dinosaurs) found in the southern part of the world.1
As preguntas máis frecuentes sobre Fujianvenator
?How big was Fujianvenator?
Fujianvenator weighed about 641 grams (1.4 lb), similar in size to a koklass pheasant. It was a small, bird-like dinosaur.2
?Could Fujianvenator fly?
Probably not. Its shoulder blade was small compared to its upper arm bone, which suggests it did not have the muscles needed for powered flight. It likely lived on the ground or waded in water.2
?What did Fujianvenator eat?
Scientists think it ate small prey like insects or other tiny animals. Its flexible grasping fingers could have helped it catch food.2
