Angulomastacator
Angulomastacator was a duck-billed dinosaur with a strange, bent upper jaw. It lived in what is now Texas, USA, about 76 million years ago. This plant-eater had a tooth row that curved downward at the front, unlike any other hadrosaur.1

Angulomastacator is known from only one partial upper jaw bone, called a maxilla.1
Its upper jaw bent downward at a sharp 45-degree angle at the front, making its tooth row curve down.1
It was a lambeosaurine, a group of duck-billed dinosaurs that often had hollow crests on their heads.1
The dinosaur lived during the Campanian stage of the Late Cretaceous, about 76.6 million years ago.1
Its fossils were found in the Aguja Formation, in rocks that were once a small river channel.1
Scientists think Angulomastacator was an endemic species, meaning it lived only in that area and not elsewhere.1

Ebibuuzo ebisinga okubuuzibwa ku Angulomastacator
?What does Angulomastacator mean?
It means "bend chewer," referring to the bent shape of its upper jaw and the Big Bend area where it was found.1
?How big was Angulomastacator?
Scientists do not know its exact size because only one partial upper jaw bone has been found, so there is no complete skeleton to measure.1
?What did Angulomastacator eat?
It was a plant-eater, or herbivore, that ate plants with rows of ever-replacing teeth.1
?When did Angulomastacator live?
It lived about 76.6 million years ago, during the Late Cretaceous Period.1

- Angulomastacator was named in 2009 by paleontologists Jonathan Wagner and Thomas Lehman. The species name A. daviesi honors Kyle L. Davies, who first suggested lambeosaurines lived in the Aguja Formation in 1983. The fossil was found by a team from the Texas Memorial Museum at the Dawson Creek locality in Big Bend National Park.1

- Scientists are not sure why Angulomastacator had such a bent upper jaw. It might have been for a special way of eating, or it could be a feature of a new group of hadrosaurs.1
