Fakte argëtuese

Panphagia lived about 231 million years ago, during the Late Triassic period.1

It was one of the earliest known sauropodomorphs, the group that later included giants like Brachiosaurus.2

The only fossil found so far is from a young, not fully grown individual.2

Panphagia shared its home with other early dinosaurs like Eoraptor and Herrerasaurus.2

Its name means 'all eater' because scientists think it ate both plants and animals.1

The fossils were found in 2006 by paleontologist Ricardo N. Martínez in Argentina.1

Pyetjet më të shpeshta për Panphagia

?How big was Panphagia?

About 1.3 metres (4.3 feet) long. That is about as long as a medium-sized dog.1 2

?What did Panphagia eat?

It ate both plants and meat, so it was an omnivore. Its teeth show it was somewhere between a meat-eater and a plant-eater.1 2

?When did Panphagia live?

It lived about 231 million years ago, during the Late Triassic period.1 2

?Where was Panphagia found?

Its fossils were found in Argentina, in the Ischigualasto Formation of San Juan Province.1 2

?Is Panphagia a dinosaur?

Yes, it is a dinosaur. It is a very early sauropodomorph, the group that later included the giant long-necked dinosaurs.1 2

?Why is Panphagia important?

It is one of the earliest known dinosaurs and helps scientists understand how the huge sauropods evolved from small ancestors.1 2
