Camposipterus was a flying reptile that soared over ancient England about 112 million years ago. It had a long, narrow snout and probably snatched fish from the sea with its sharp teeth.1 4

Camposipterus was named in 2013 after Brazilian paleontologist Diogenes de Almeida Campos.1

Its fossils come from the Cambridge Greensand, a rock layer that is about 100 to 106 million years old.4

The first fossil of Camposipterus was just the front part of a snout, found at Haslingfield, Cambridgeshire.1

Camposipterus did not have a crest on its snout, unlike some other pterosaurs.2

Scientists are not sure if two other species, Camposipterus sedgwickii and Camposipterus colorhinus, really belong to this genus.1

The name of the species Camposipterus nasutus means 'with a long nose' in Latin.1
