Gandititan is known from a partial skeleton that includes six neck bones, two back bones, six hip bones, and 17 tail bones.1
Its name means 'cavity tail' because the tail bones had deep hollows and slit-like holes on their undersides.1
Gandititan was a titanosaur, a group of sauropods that lived all over the world during the Late Cretaceous.1
Scientists think Gandititan was about 14 meters (46 feet) long, as long as a school bus.1
The front tail bones of Gandititan had split spines, which is unusual and helps scientists tell it apart from other dinosaurs.2
Gandititan lived about 100 to 90 million years ago, during the Cenomanian and Turonian ages of the Late Cretaceous.3
