Inawentu was a big, long-necked plant-eater that lived in what is now Argentina. It had a wide, square snout like a duck's bill, which helped it munch on low-growing plants. Its neck was shorter than most of its relatives, but it could still move it in many directions.1

Inawentu's name means 'imitator' because its skull looks like that of a different group of dinosaurs called rebbachisaurids.1

Its neck had only 12 bones, fewer than any other known titanosaur. Most titanosaurs had 13 to 17 neck bones.1

Inawentu was named in 2024 by Filippi and colleagues based on a partial skeleton found in the Bajo de la Carpa Formation in Neuquén, Argentina. The species name 'oslatus' means 'broad mouth'.1
