Kizylkumavis was a small, toothed bird that lived during the age of dinosaurs. It flew over the deserts of ancient Uzbekistan about 90 million years ago. This bird was an enantiornithine, a group of early birds that went extinct with the dinosaurs.12

Kizylkumavis was named by Russian paleontologist Lev Nessov in 1984. The type specimen is a single bone cataloged as TsNIGR 51/11915.21
