Oceanotitan might be the oldest known somphospondylan, a group of sauropods that includes the huge titanosaurs.1

Its name was inspired by the song 'Oceania' by Icelandic singer Björk.1

Oceanotitan had a unique bump on its shoulder blade and a special groove on its tail bones.1

It lived during the Late Jurassic, about 152 to 149 million years ago.2

Only one skeleton of Oceanotitan has been found, including parts of the tail, hips, shoulders, and back legs.1
