Fushanosaurus
Fushanosaurus was a giant, long-necked plant eater that stomped around China during the Late Jurassic. It is known from a single huge thigh bone, but scientists think it was one of the longest dinosaurs ever!1

The only known bone is a complete right thigh bone (femur) that is 180 centimetres (5.9 feet) long.1
Scientists think it was about 30 metres (98 feet) long, which would make it one of the longest dinosaurs known.1
Its femur has a deep U-shaped groove between the joints at the knee, which is a special feature.3
The fourth trochanter, a bump on the thigh bone where muscles attach, is mound-shaped and sits above the middle of the bone.3
Fushanosaurus lived about 161 to 155 million years ago, during the Oxfordian age of the Late Jurassic.2
It was first thought to be a titanosauriform, but later studies suggest it might be a mamenchisaurid, a group known for very long necks.1

?How big was Fushanosaurus?
Fushanosaurus was about 30 metres (98 feet) long, based on comparisons with other giant sauropods. Its only known bone, a thigh bone, is 180 centimetres (71 inches) long.1
?What did Fushanosaurus eat?
Fushanosaurus was a herbivore, meaning it ate plants. It lived on land and was likely a ground-dwelling dinosaur.4
Mothubi wa ditlhamane
Tlhamane: Some people think Fushanosaurus was a titanosauriform, a type of sauropod.
Boammaaruri: Scientists now think it might actually be a mamenchisaurid, because the features that suggested titanosauriform are also found in other sauropods.1
