Judinornis was a member of the Hesperornithes, a group of flightless, toothed seabirds from the Cretaceous period.1
Unlike many of its relatives that lived in the sea, Judinornis lived in rivers and estuaries in what is now Mongolia.1
Judinornis probably lived about 70 million years ago, during the early Maastrichtian stage of the Late Cretaceous.1
Its fossils were found in the Nemegt Formation, which was formed from sediments deposited by rivers in a dry landscape.1
Judinornis is known from only a single species, Judinornis nogontsavensis.1

- Scientists are not sure exactly how Judinornis is related to other hesperornithine birds, but it appears to have been one of the more basal members of the group.1
