It belonged to a group called Edmontosaurini, which includes other duck-billed dinosaurs like Edmontosaurus.1
Some fossils thought to be from Laiyangosaurus actually belong to other kinds of hadrosaurs, like kritosaurins and lambeosaurines.1
The name Laiyangosaurus means 'Laiyang lizard', after the Laiyang area in China where its fossils were dug up.1
Laiyangosaurus lived alongside insects, plants, and other dinosaurs, and its fossils were found in the same rocks as dinosaur eggs.1
This dinosaur was a saurolophine hadrosaurid, meaning it belonged to the group of duck-billed dinosaurs without hollow crests.1
