Walkeria
Walkeria was an early reptile that lived in India during the Late Triassic, about 228 million years ago. It was a small, two-legged animal that scientists once thought was a dinosaur, but now they are not so sure.1

Dintlha tse di monate
Walkeria was first named in 1987 by paleontologist Sankar Chatterjee, but the name was already used for a tiny sea animal, so it was changed to Alwalkeria in 1994.1
The fossils of Walkeria are a mix of bones from different animals, like a puzzle. The skull might belong to a crocodile-like reptile, while the leg bones could be from a dinosaur.1
Walkeria lived in a place that was once an ancient lake or river in what is now India.1
Some scientists think the thigh bone of Walkeria looks like that of a lagerpetid, a group of small, agile reptiles that were close relatives of pterosaurs.1
Because its fossils are so mixed up, scientists are not sure if Walkeria was a dinosaur, a crocodile relative, or something else entirely.1

- Sankar Chatterjee named Walkeria in 1987 based on a partial skull, vertebrae, and leg bones found in the Maleri Formation of India. The name was later changed to Alwalkeria because 'Walkeria' was already taken.1

- Scientists still debate whether Walkeria was a dinosaur, a crocodile-like reptile, or a lagerpetid, because its fossils are a mix of different animals.1
