Kelumapusaura is known from a bonebed containing many individuals, suggesting it lived in groups.1
Its name comes from the Mapudungun word for 'red earth', because the fossils were found in red-coloured rocks.1
This dinosaur lived during the very end of the Cretaceous Period, about 72 to 66 million years ago.2
Kelumapusaura belonged to a group of South American duck-billed dinosaurs called Austrokritosauria.1
It shared its home with titanosaurs, abelisaurids, and other dinosaurs in the Allen Formation.1
