Kotasaurus is one of the earliest and most primitive sauropods known.1
Fossils from at least 12 different Kotasaurus individuals have been found together in one spot.1
Kotasaurus had a tail club, which it may have used to fight other dinosaurs or defend itself.1
Its thigh bone was straight and oval in cross-section, like later giant sauropods.1
No skull has been found, only two teeth, so scientists are not sure what its head looked like.1
Kotasaurus lived alongside another early sauropod called Barapasaurus.1

- Kotasaurus was named and described by P. Yadagiri in 1988. The fossils were found in the late 1970s near the village of Yamanpalli in India.12
