- Rahiolisaurus was named in 2010 by scientists Fernando Novas, Sankar Chatterjee, Dhiraj Rudra, P. M. Datta and Saswati Bandyopadhyay. The fossils were collected during two expeditions in 1995 and 1997 near Rahioli village in Gujarat, India.12
