Fun facts
Angolatitan is the first dinosaur ever discovered in Angola.1
Its name means 'Angolan giant' and the species name 'adamastor' comes from a mythical sea giant from the South Atlantic.1
Scientists only found part of its right front leg, including the shoulder bone, upper arm bone, and some hand bones.1
Angolatitan lived about 90 million years ago, during the Late Cretaceous period.1
It was a non-titanosaur sauropod, which means it belonged to a group that was becoming rare at that time, as titanosaurs were taking over.1
The fossils were found in rocks that were once near the sea, so Angolatitan may have lived in a coastal environment.1

Most asked questions about Angolatitan
?How big was Angolatitan?
Angolatitan is known only from a partial right forelimb, so its full size is not known. The upper arm bone measures 110 centimetres (43 inches) long, and the ulna 69 centimetres (27 inches) long.21
?What did Angolatitan eat?
Angolatitan was a plant-eater, as are all sauropods. Its teeth are not known, but it likely ate leaves and other vegetation.3
