Brasilotitan
Brasilotitan was a long-necked, plant-eating dinosaur that lived in Brazil during the Late Cretaceous. It was a titanosaur, a group of huge sauropods, but Brasilotitan was smaller than many of its giant cousins.1

Fun facts
Brasilotitan had a lower jaw shaped like an 'L', with the front part slightly twisted inward. This feature had never been seen before in any titanosaur.12
The name 'nemophagus' means 'pasture eater' or 'wood eater', referring to its plant-based diet.1
Some of the fossil bones show puncture marks, and theropod teeth were found nearby. Scientists think a meat-eating dinosaur may have scavenged the carcass before it was buried.1
Brasilotitan was small for a sauropod, probably less than 12 metres (39 feet) long.1
The fossil includes a right dentary (lower jaw bone), neck vertebrae, part of the sacrum, hip bones, and a toe claw.12
Brasilotitan is closely related to another Brazilian titanosaur called Uberabatitan.1
