Delapparentia was about 15% longer than the famous Iguanodon bernissartensis.1
Its fossils were first found in 1958 by an amateur fossil hunter named José María Herrero Marzo.1
The skeleton is missing the skull, but includes many back bones, ribs, and hip bones.1
Some scientists think Delapparentia might just be an old Iguanodon, but a 2026 study said it is a separate genus.1
It lived about 130 to 127 million years ago during the Early Cretaceous period.1
The hip bone called the ilium was 78 centimetres (31 inches) long.1
