Fun facts

1

Drusilasaura is known from a partial skeleton that includes four back vertebrae, one hip vertebra, six tail vertebrae, and a left shoulder blade.1

2

Its shoulder blade is 143 centimetres (56 inches) long, which is 30 percent longer than that of its relative Mendozasaurus.1

3

Drusilasaura lived during the Late Cretaceous Period, between about 100 and 90 million years ago.2

4

The fossils were found on a ranch called María Aike, which belongs to the Ortiz de Zárate family.1

5

Drusilasaura might be the oldest known member of a group called Lognkosauria, which includes some of the largest dinosaurs ever.1

6

The dinosaur's name ends in "-saura" instead of the usual "-saurus" because it was named after a girl named Drusila.1
