Fun facts

1

Jaklapallisaurus is known from only a few bones, including a thigh bone and foot bones.1

2

Its species name, asymmetricus, comes from its lopsided ankle bone (astragalus).1

3

This dinosaur was a sauropodomorph, a relative of the huge long-necked sauropods like Brachiosaurus.1

4

Jaklapallisaurus lived alongside another early dinosaur called Nambalia.1

5

The first fossils were found near the town of Jaklapalli, which gave the dinosaur its name.1

6

Scientists think Jaklapallisaurus was about 2 to 3 meters long, as big as a small car.1
