Fun facts
Lohuecotitan is known from a partial skeleton with bones still connected or close together, which is rare for sauropods.1
Its backbone had special ridges and bumps that are unique to this dinosaur, helping scientists tell it apart from other titanosaurs.1
The tail vertebrae had a cross-section shaped like a Greek cross, a very unusual feature.1
It lived on an island called Ibero-Armorica, which is now Spain and France, during the Late Cretaceous.1
The fossil site where it was found, Lo Hueco, also had fish, turtles, crocodiles, and other dinosaurs.1
Lohuecotitan is the most complete titanosaur skeleton ever found in Europe from the Late Cretaceous.1
