Fun facts
Narambuenatitan is known from a partial skeleton that includes parts of the skull, backbone, and limbs.1
The fossil was found in rocks of the Anacleto Formation, which are about 83 to 72 million years old.4
This dinosaur was a lithostrotian titanosaur, a group of sauropods with bony plates in their skin.2
The specimen was a subadult, meaning it was not fully grown when it died.1
Narambuenatitan had a special feature in its middle tail vertebrae: a tall, blade-like spine that pointed backward.1
The bones were found in a small area, less than 15 square meters, suggesting the animal died near a pond or swamp.1
