Fun facts
Pantydraco was first thought to be a different dinosaur called Thecodontosaurus, but scientists later gave it its own name.12
Its name comes from the quarry where it was found, Pant-y-ffynnon, which means 'hollow of the spring' in Welsh.1
Pantydraco had special holes in its neck bones that let air sacs in, making its skeleton lighter.2
It lived during the Late Triassic or Early Jurassic, about 237 to 227 million years ago.4
